`based on a true story.

There was once a young boy who was very poor. He could not afford many things as his parents were working hard just to make ends meet. Just wandering alone on the street, he came upon a toy shop which sold many different types of toys. Scanning the insides of the store from outside, he came across a Doll on display at the window. The Doll was a perfect doll, made of good materials. The Doll’s hair was soft as silk and had gems crafted as eyes. To the young boy, it was the only one thing that he really wanted. But sadly, the price of the Doll was very expensive, it was something the young boy could not afford now.

Everyday without fail, the young boy would race to the store to meet his princess. Just standing outside the cold streets, he would talk to the Doll. Though it wasnt alive, the young boy felt something for it. Occansionally, the strict storekeeper would allow the young boy to enter the store and sit beside the Doll, where he could observe the Doll much closer. It was something the young boy was saving for with whatever pocket money his parents gave. The day soon came when the young boy had almost enough money to purchase the Doll.

Just like the usual days, he raced to the store but to much disappointment, the Doll wasnt there at the display. Not wanting to give up that easily, he pushed the wooden door slowly and entered the store. The storekeeper pursed his lips and glared at him. Walking timidly toward the storekeeper, the young boy ask,” Where is the Doll which was by the window?”

The storekeeper merely reply,” It is no more for sale, it is just for display.” And he walked into the storeroom. The young boy was disappointed and sad. Thinking that everything was over for him, he left the store for home. That night, he couldnt eat nor concentrate on his work. He cried himself to sleep.

After a few days, the young boy walked passed the store and glanced past it. To his amazement, the Doll was there. Rushing towards the window and pressing his face on the glass, it was still perfect and pure. But sadly, it was not for sale. It was just for display at the highest shelf of the store.

From that day onwards, the young boy was not able to see the Doll properly, let alone talk to it. It was very painful for him as it was something so near but yet so far. But the young boy waited and waited for the day when the Doll would be finally be on sale.

The End.
